While searching for an appropriate link to footnote a casual literary reference in the above post (and yeah, contrary to blogospheric tradition I'm fiddling with the time-stamp on this post so as to leave the older (by a few minutes) post above the brief footnote to it... sue me), I stumbled across two wonderfully wacky Tolkien links.
First, we have Tolkien Geek: some wonderful fellow who blogged the entire !@#$% The Lord of the Rings. I haven't delved too deeply into the site yet, but it looks splendid and wonderful -- yet another example of what I love about the blogosphere.
And second, we have The Lord of the Rings in Legos. Yes, some enterprising chap is in the process of illustrating the entire novel in Legos. How wonderful is that! Best use of Legos since The Brick Testament (which, in case you don't know, is some other enterprising chap who is illustrating the entire Bible in Legos... which, with all due respect to the LOTR in Legos site, is even more wonderful, and if you haven't seen it before you should go enjoy it immediately.) But the LOTR Lego site is charming enough. Here is a picture from the flight to the ford:
And here is Frodo at the Council of Elrond accepting the burden of the ring:
...And, lastly, the LOTR Lego site has an entire page of links to other LOTR Lego sites. Yes, it turns out, there are a lot of people, not only who have gone so far as illustrate this (extraordinary and wonderful) novel, but a lot of people who have gone so far as to illustrate it in Lego.
What can I say? It's a strange and wonderful world.

There's nothing like seeing LOTR and the Bible each illustrated in Legos to realize how many parallels between the two there are.
